Forward Edge-AI Japan Co., Ltd.
Forward Edge-AI Japan Co., Ltd. Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation Regarding Proof-of-Concept Testing of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Technology for Satellite Communications
Forward Edge-AI Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & Representative Director: Koji Kabumoto; hereinafter "FEAI-JP") and its U.S. parent company Forward Edge-AI, Inc. (Headquarters: San Antonio, Texas, USA; Representative: Eric Adolphe; hereinafter "FEAI") are pleased to announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (Headquarters: Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & Representative Director, Executive Officer: Eiichi Yonekura; hereinafter "SKY Perfect JSAT") regarding a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the introduction of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technology into satellite communications services.
INDEX
■ Background and Objectives
With the rapid advancement of quantum computing, addressing the risk that current cryptographic technologies could be compromised in the future has become an urgent international challenge. In particular, the need to strengthen security in critical infrastructure such as energy, communications, and finance is growing in importance from a national security perspective.
Against this backdrop, this MOU was concluded with the aim of contributing to the security of Japan's critical infrastructure by combining the PQC solution technologies developed by FEAI-JP and FEAI with SKY Perfect JSAT's operational expertise in satellite communications network services and its extensive sales network to infrastructure companies.
■ Overview of the MOU
Under this MOU, the three parties will jointly conduct a Proof of Concept (PoC) to apply PQC technology to SKY Perfect JSAT's satellite communications line services.
The PoC is planned to include establishing PQC-secured connections via satellite links, verifying communication quality (encryption performance, latency tolerance, and stability), and evaluating operational feasibility.
■ About Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Technology
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) refers to next-generation cryptographic technology capable of maintaining security even against attacks using quantum computers. Its standardization is being led by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and government agencies and critical infrastructure operators around the world are urgently working to adopt it. FEAI-JP and FEAI possess proprietary technologies and products for implementing PQC across various communications infrastructures, including satellite communications.
